Jurisdiction to Apply

Embassy of Italy in New Delhi will accept applications from residents of the Union Territories of New Delhi and Chandigarh; the States of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Applications directly at Embassy of Italy, New Delhi: Application for non-Indian nationals and immediate family members (parents, parent-in-laws, spouse ,children, brother and sister) of Italian / EU member country citizen should be submitted directly at the Embassy of Italy on all working Tuesday and Thursday between 10:00 till 12:30 and cannot be accepted at VFS Italian Visa Application Centre. Applications for Funeral cases of immediate family members (parents, parent-in-laws, spouse and children) can also be applied directly at Embassy. Applicants are required to book a prior appointment for submission at Embassy by calling at VFS Helpline Number +91 22 67866004.

Please note that w.e.f. 24 June 2014; Embassy of Italy will be accepting applications visa fee in the form of Demand draft only. Embassy of Italy will not entertain any other mode of payment. 

Note: We cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements 

Please provide one recent photographs (not more than 6 months old) of yourself. The photographs should be in color and: 

Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).

Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background].
Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. Photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Application form fully completed and signed by applicant. Form should be printed on A4 size paper then print should be taken in back to back page.
One recent passport size colored photograph (35 x 45 mm wide) with white background, 70-80% face coverage, Photograph taken with a digital camera must be high quality color and printed on photo-quality paper. Photograph should not be more than 6 months old. It should be glued to the form and not stapled.
Passport/Travel Document must:

o    Have been issued within the previous 10 years, and its validity must not exceed 10 yrs.
o    At least have a validity of 6 months from the date of Travel.
o    Have at least 2 Blank Pages.

Overseas medical insurance with minimum coverage of Euro 30,000- for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses. (Photocopy). Approved list of Indian Travel Insurance Companies providing Travel Medical Insurance for Schengen Visa:

1.    Apollo Munich Health Insurance Company for the age group of 6 months to 70 years.
2.    Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company for the age group of 6 months to 70 years.
3.    Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company for the age group of 0 month to 70 years.
4.    Future Generali India insurance Company for the age group of 6 months to 70 years.
5.    HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company for the age group of 3 months to 70 years.
6.    ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company for age group of 3 months to 50 years (Policies for schengen Countries 51 to 85 years).
7.    IFFCO - Tokio General Insurance Company for the age group of 3 months to 70 years.
8.    Reliance General Insurance Company for the age group of 3 months to 70 years.
9.    Religare Health Insurance Company (Explore Europe and Explore Platinum Plans) without age limit.
10.  Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company for the age group of 3 months to 70 years.

14.  The New India Assurance Company for the age group of 0 month to 60 years.
15.  The Oriental Insurance Company for the age group of 6 months to 60 years.
16.  United India Insurance Company for the age group of 0 month to 65 years.
17.  Universal Sompo General Insurance Company for the age group of 0 month to 70 years.
    

For Applicants applying at Eastern region (in Kolkata VFS):- Travel Health Insurance submitted for all applications must be valid for 15 days beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen Area.
Travel itinerary with travel dates, including a return flight reservation or ticket.
One set photocopy of Applicant’s Passport.
Proof of social or professional status.(for example cover letter detailing purpose of trip or leave authorization from the employer of the applicant.).
Availability of adequate financial means of the applicant:

o    Salary slips/certificates of the last three months and Form F16.
o    Status of personal bank account for the last six months, in original letter from the bank. OR Original and one photocopy of Bank Guarantee

( “fidejussione bancaria”) from sponsor in Italy (if any) covering the expenses for the duration of stay as per the foreign exchange value (sse above mentioned table). The original will be returned with the passport.

o    Income tax challans (last three years) and Form 16
o    Foreign exchange endorsement on the passport and receipt.
o    Credit card copy with statement of credit limit.

Proof of Accommodation
o    Confirmed hotel bookings. OR
o    Invitation letter from the sponsor in Italy (“Lettera di invito”, see attached form).
    

Processing time is upto 10 to 15 working days. The Embassy reserves the right to request for further documents. The submission and collection of your visa application and passport from VFS can be done either by the applicant himself/herself or through any authorized person who bears an original authorization letter signed by the applicant and a photo-ID.
